What an MLA can and can't do

Virender will not promise what one MLA cannot deliver. He can promise effort, access, and honesty about what is happening.

An MLA can

  • Vote on laws and on the provincial budget.
  • Question ministers and press ministries on local files.
  • Help residents with provincial services and agencies.
  • Sit on legislative committees and speak for the riding in the House.

An MLA can't

  • Set federal trade policy or tariffs. Those are decided in Ottawa.
  • Run hospitals day to day. Fraser Health does that.
  • Decide municipal matters such as local zoning, city roads or city policing budgets.
  • Spend money or start projects alone. Government decides.

Hold Virender to it.
